Commentaires sur le Danemark (american version at the end:"commnents on Denmark"

Comments on Denmark

This is the first time that Flo and I (JC) have posted on this blog, rest assured that we obtained permission from Edde!

We felt it was very important, and Edde agreed, for us to pass along a few observations.

For all three of us, the trip to Denmark and the warm welcomes and graciousness of everyone throughout our trip were wonderful.  Special thanks go to:

Our hosts Hennings and Ann Jorgenson, owners of several Australian Cattle Dogs and 3 Australian Kelpies

Katrin, Jesper, Linda, Anneette, Ida, Vibeke, John and Kjeld

We were fortunate to see wonderful owners impassioned by the work of their ACDs and kelpies, as well as Linda with her Bouvier des Flandres and Vibeke with her White Swiss Shepherd.

Many thanks also to Steen, who enabled us to discover the incredible beauty of the Danish coast.  Your life and work with your ACD and your BC is wonderful, and we were gratified by the friendship and confidence you showed us in allowing us to work with your sheep with our dogs.

And special thanks to Larry and your wonderful wife Marylin for your availability, your knowledge of ACDs, your sage advice on how to improve our work with ACDs  including demonstrating that ACDs can indeed work calmly, herding at a distance and in a circle, perhaps not in the same manner as border collies, but it is gratifying to know that we, and they, can do it!  We very much hope that we will be able to visit with you again soon and continue to work our dog using your methods.

We were also extremely fortunate to be able to meet and receive advice from Larry Painter.  We hope that every ACD owner takes advantage of any opportunity to see Larry’s work with ACDs.  We dream of being able to visit Larry on the future, on his ranch in Missouri.

PS: many thanks to Beverley, from Salt Lake City, my friend for more than 40years...she helped us translating our words, our emotions, our feelings! Hope to see you soon!!
